My Dad, Harry Tatro, turned 95 a couple of weeks ago. That in itself is noteworthy but maybe not reason enough to start a blog. His “stories” are. He was born and raised in 1924 in rural Saskatchewan, he lived through the depression, taught school, worked for 30 years for Canada’s National Historic Parks, raised a family of four who produced 13 grandchildren who produced 29 great and great great grandchildren. He moved to Calgary and traveled extensively in Canada visiting historic sites. He camped and fished in the summer and built a country home overlooking the Red Deer River and has spent the last 30 odd years researching our and other’s family history. THAT has given him the knowledge and experience to have a LOT of stories. Which he likes to share.
This blog is a way for him to share his stories with more than just me. Some of his stories will be about growing up and going to school in Brada, Saskatchewan or working on the farm and other personal histories. Some will be about his career with Parks Canada developing Historic Parks. Some will be the history of Canada and some family history back to our first ancestors in New France in 1650 and his search to find them.
Stary tuned. The stories will come in no particular order. I will post them as they occur to him and in his words. I will also include pictures whenever I have something that works. As I get better at blogging I will even make the page look better too.
Hope you enjoy what is to come.
Sue
