Thanksgiving 2023
While at Gwen’s at Thanksgiving time, I planned to spend a little time on my computer at the desk near the bed in my bedroom. Jolene’s five-year-old, Teagan, followed and took the computer chair. She was immediately attracted to three or four blank sheets of computer paper folded in half, like a little booklet, sitting beside the computer. Like the imaginative little person she is, she at once saw a book with no story that must be given one.
Teagan told me to sit on the bed and not to watch while she worked at the desk, and to close my eyes. I opened one, but she caught me at once. I closed that one and opened the other one, but again she found me out. That went on for a while until she said I should put a hand over my eyes so I would not see what she was doing. When she found there were spaces between my fingers, I was told to put both hands over my eyes. I guessed my teasing had reached her limit when she pushed my head down onto the pillow, below the level where I could see what she was doing, with the command, “Now keep your eyes shut.”
After a big turkey dinner and it seemed Teagan’s plans might take a long time, her demand seemed like a good idea. In a short time I was sound asleep and by the time I woke, Teagan was long gone from the room. I did not open Teagan’s “Book” until after she had left for home, so I did not get her interpretation of her story.
Teagan is greatly impressed with horses. A few days ago, a game was made for Teagan to play while traveling home. It was a “Treasure Hunt” of ten items, such as a cow, a white house, etc. I asked, “Did you put down a unicorn?” Teagan was quick to let me know, “Granddad, you see unicorns only in your imagination.” Here is my interpretation of Teagan’s Story.
You are welcome to your own interpretation of Teagan’s Story Book.
